Notice of AGM Monday 3rd August 2009

2 August 2009

Here’s the text of an email sent to the membership last week:

VICTORIAN AUTOCAD USERS GROUP INCORPORATED (VICAUG INC.)
(C&BAV Incorporation Registration Number: A 13467S)
ABN: 65 553 575 021
Greetings friends
*** Next Vicaug Meeting ***
A quick reminder: Only a few sleeps to go to the next Victorian AutoCAD Users Group meeting is on
6:30pm Monday
3rd August 2009
At RMIT
5th Floor, RMIT Building 94, 23-27 Cardigan St Carlton
Yes folks, that’s this coming Monday!
This is on the west side of Cardigan St, just north of Victoria St. Car parking is available at the kerbside or in the centre of the road. There is also a multi-storey Wilson car park right next door, which is open until 10pm (fee payable). Alternatively, the area is well served by public transport: trains to Melbourne Central station and / or trams along Swanston Street.
We are back to our usual venue.
Our meeting room is called a Studio, room number 9405032. Take the lifts up to the fifth floor, follow the corridor around to the right and the Studio is on the left side, towards the end of the corridor. Follow the pizza gas if you get lost!
FEATURED THIS MONTH
This month we’ll be going right back to basics and discussing how to use blocks and xrefs in your Acad works. This is one of the core features of AutoCAD: it’s been around forever yet it’s surprising how many of us are not using them to best advantage. Even though you might (like me) have been using AutoCAD for the last ninety years I can pretty much guarantee you’ll find out something you didn’t know about using blocks. The format will be pretty informal: we’ll we guided by some instructional material but we hope that everyone will join in and share their tips, trials, tribulations and tricks with us all.
This month’s meeting will contain the AGM and the requisite elections and reports. Do not fear; this usually takes about thirty seconds. On a more serious note, though, if you (or anyone you know) feel you want to take on a committee role, please let us know, either on the night or, if you can’t make it, send us an email. It’s not at all onerous and a great way to while away a pleasant Wednesday evening chin-wagging at the home of one of the committee members.
Please check the Vicaug blog at https://vicaug.wordpress.com/ for the minutes of the last (2008) AGM.
Also, Mark will be taking us through some tips and tricks, “round table” discussions of your AutoCAD problems (and hopefully the solutions!) plus the usual News, Your AutoCAD Questions Answered and friendly chat. Not only that, but if we have time, we might go a little further with developing the little lisp program we worked on last month.
And, of course, our usual TV program so no need to stay at home worrying about missing it! We’ll try to dig up the episode scheduled for Monday so you don’t have to fuss with the VCR, DVD recorder etc.
Due to popular request, we will be starting the meeting a little later (at 6:30pm) than in previous years. This is due to the fact that parking in the vicinity is free after 6:30pm. We will try to start the presentations at 7:00 pm sharp, so the meeting should finish at a reasonable hour. (Although I have to admit that a few of us have been known to congregate on the footpath outside after the meeting and chew the fat until a somewhat less reasonable hour!)
Bring along your USB memory keys etc. and you can get a copy of some of the items demonstrated.
All Welcome!
As usual, food and drinks will be provided, along with the opportunity to meet up with fellow AutoCAD users.
Meetings for the Rest of 2009
Are scheduled for Monday 5th October and Monday 7th December. Usual time and venue, unless otherwise advised.

Please note:
The order of business may be amended at the discretion of the President.

Autodesk Impression to be available to Subscription Customers

14 February 2008

Autodesk has announced that the next version of their Impression software will not be sold separately, but will rather be included as part of AutoCAD subscription benefits. Seems to be a welcome move for most of us, but what this means for existing Impression customers has not yet been established.
