An Introduction to Vicaug

The Victorian AutoCAD Users Group services users of all Autodesk related products. Whilst the main focus will always remain AutoCAD and its third party applications, various other Autodesk and associated products such as Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD LT, Architectural Desktop, Mechanical Desktop, 3D Studio, etc. in addition to specific areas like Lisp, VBA, and ‘C’ languages, Plant Design, Communications, CAD Standards, Networking, Animation and Rendering, are visited.

The Users Group has six meetings a year. Currently, we meet at the TLC church, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The meetings are organised around a central theme, interspersed with regular segments such as a problem forum, tips and tricks, etc. Guest speakers and vendor presentations are regular features. The focus of the group is on the user.

The meetings are catered functions wholly subsidised by subscriptions. VICAUG recognises the effort required to attend meetings in ones own time, and therefore has hot and cold food and drink available (at no charge to full members). Come along and find out the meaning of a USERS group.

The meetings can provide a forum for any member or company to put forward their views on a diverse range of subjects concerning CAD. Any member is welcome to address the membership at these meetings, perhaps others share the same point of view.

Equipment available for speakers and presenters includes full audio visual presentation equipment with a wall screen, and a high end PC is generally available.

News is sent to all members regularly, in the form of this blog, and combined with the meetings, workshops and seminars, provides a total grounding of the subject. Within the membership there are certain to be others with similar interests to yourself, or with answers to similar problems. Often the years subscription can be recouped with one time saving tip or problem solved.

The Users Group subscribes to industry leading publications for technical information and up-to-the-minute news. Programs, hints, tips, and knowledge by other users are shared openly within the group at meetings and in the newsletter.

The Users Group is well supported by voluntary effort from an able committee, who cover all cross-sections of the CAD community, from the single users through to users in charge of international CAD setups. A list of the committee members and their phone/fax numbers and email addresses is available to members.

A help network for users has been initiated and is available to all members by contacting any committee member. With the full backing of Autodesk, VICAUG is able to make you aware of upgrades, bug fixes, tips etc. shortly after, and sometimes before, their release. If you are in Victoria, contact us regarding membership or just a chat. If you are not in Victoria, email, fax, write or phone.

We are always ready to listen and will assist in any way.
